Indictment to Lowville Man Accused of Sex Crimes

    Lowville, NY- A Grand Jury indictment was unsealed this morning in Lewis
    County Court with the Honorable John H. Crandall of Herkimer County
    presiding, after Lewis County Judge Daniel R. King was recused from the case.

    Wayne D. Mihalyi, 66, of Lowville, was indicted on the following counts:

    (1) count of first-degree Criminal Sex Act, a class "B" felony
    (1) count of second-degree Criminal Sex Act, a class "D" felony
    (1) count of first-degree Sexual Abuse, a class "D" felony
    (3) counts of Forcible Touching, class "A" misdemeanors
    (3) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, class "A" misdemeanors

    Mr. Mihalyi is accused of subjecting a 14-year-old male victim to forcible sexual
    contact. He is currently out on $10,000 bail, which Judge Crandall continued. A
    temporary order of protection was issued on the victim's behalf. The case was
    adjourned to March 9th.

    The investigation is continuing, with additional charges pending and the
    possibility of additional victims.
