Lowville- The Village of Lowville Department of Public Works has announced
that it will again be conducting Fall Clean-Up, beginning September 28 and
running through November 2. During this period the DPW crews will be picking
up tree limbs, brush, leaves, and general yard debris that is placed at curbside.

Residents should note that all piles of limbs, debris, leaves, and brush to be
picked up at the curb must be kept individually sorted. Any piles found to be
mixed together will not be picked up by Village crews. Please note that only
reasonably sized brush piles will be picked up by village crews. Large piles
resulting from the removal of trees, shrubbery and hedgerows are the
responsibility of the property owner, the village states. Residents must make
private arrangements to have these types of wastes removed from their property.
After November 2, 2015, no further pick-up of any items will occur again until
    Monday April 27, 2016.

The Department wishes to remind residents that it is illegal to pile brush, limbs,
debris, and leaves beyond the curb line of the street, in any ditch line, or in any
part of the street itself. Residents may be fined for placing such items in the
streets; this poses a serious safety hazard to motorists and pedestrians as well
as acting to plug up the drainage facilities during rainstorms. The DPW wishes to
thank you in advance for your full cooperation in this matter. It is only through
your cooperation that they can continue these services.

Village residents should also note that the Village of Lowville now has a site,
open from 8 AM to 3 PM each day during the normal work week, where such
wastes can be transported to in your own vehicle. The site is located at the
Village wastewater treatment facility on East State Street. Only Village residents
will be allowed access to the site. The Village is only able to accept branches or
trees that are less than 8 inches in diameter. No stumps will be accepted.
