Town of Croghan- Croghan Volunteer Firefighters were called to a residence at
6433 Swiss Road early Sunday morning, battling a blaze that quickly moved from
the attached garage to the second story of the residence.

Fire officials said that two people were able to safely escape the fire and remove
a car from the garage. No injuries were reported and the fire took around two and
a half hours to extinguish. A malfunctioning wood stove in the garage, leading to
what started as a chimney fire which climbed up a shared wall between the
garage and residence, was determined to be the cause. The second floor of the
home was extensively damaged, with the first floor receiving mostly water
damage. The home is listed as owned by Donald and Ruth Meyer.

Beaver Falls, Castorland and New Bremen fire departments were also called to
    and assisted at the scene.
