
Forestport- Nirvana, Inc., the spring water plant employing seventy workers just south of Boonville, amended the WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice on file with the New York State Department of Labor on Thursday. By law a company is required to file a WARN notice to notify employees of mass layoffs or plant closings.
Department of Labor and employees on June 1st that layoffs were scheduled to begin on or about September 2, 2015. The amended notice filed on Thursday extends the date employees will be working until at least November 16, 2015. The notice specifically states that terminations may first take effect on November 16 through November 30, 2015, and continue permanently after that. A plant closing date of November 2015 was also added to the amended notice.
District of New York U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Utica by Judge Diane Davis earlier this month. Judge Davis has authorized the sale of the assets of Nirvana and its affiliates, free and clear of all liens, claims, interests and encumbrances, subject to terms of the purchase offer.
