| The Traveling Vietnam Veterans Wall Will Pass Through County Today 06/17/15 02:00am |
Lewis County- The Traveling Vietnam Wall will make a stop in Lowville today (June, 17) on its way to a weekend stay in Boonville. The Traveling Vietnam Wall Honor Escort Ride will start at the Lowville VFW Post 6912 on W. State St., with staging beginning at 1:30 P.M. A riders meeting will be in the VFW parking lot at 4:30 P.M., and the ride will leave the VFW at 5 P.M. sharp. The route will go down West State Street, take a right on Main Street, continue down Main Street to the Route 12 and Route 26 split, and then continue on to Route 26 south through Turin. It will then take a left on Route 12D, continue down 12D to the bottom of the hill in Lyons Falls, taking a right by the Stewart’s store in Lyons Falls and continue on Route 12 through Port Leyden to Boonville. Once in Boonville the route will then go right on Schyler Street, left onto Main Street, right on Park Avenue and into the Boonville VFW Post 5538 parking area. The ride is scheduled to get into Boonville between 5:45 and 6 P.M.. The wall will be on display at the Boonville VFW 5538, 108 Park Ave., from Thursday, June 18 through Sunday, June 21. Admission is free to see the wall and open 24 hours each day.
